We are pleased to announce that we are in the process of finalising the installation of a new defibrillator at Sutton Reservoir.

The reason for its presence at the CRT owned reservoir was as a response to the sadly fatal cardiac arrest in 2023 at the reservoir of local fisherman Nigel Hayes. His family, friends and fishing buddies at the Macclesfield Victoria Angling Society (who own the fishing rights to the reservoir) initiated a collection in his memory to purchase this equipment and have it installed at the reservoir. They raised a significant amount of money but, the cost has been higher than originally planned because of the specifics of this equipment.

It has been through the kindness and generosity of local residents and businesses, plus the invaluable help from Kevin Hoines that the project has now been successfully fully funded. Thanks also to The Canal and River Trust (CRT) for their support and permissions.

The defibrillator will be added to the Parish Council’s annual support agreement with the Community Heartbeat Trust and looked after by our volunteer teams.

There are also plans to install a defibrillator at Sutton General Stores so please look out for details on our website.
